球技大会
I was flipping through an Australian Vogue while watching 14才の母 (14 Year Old Mother, a popular Japanese drama) when I found the perfect example of the way to wear the Jill Stuart dress I talked about in my last post.
I know you can't see it clearly because... well she's in a boat (damn editorials... I love editorials XD) but that's exactly how I envision my dress... after I lose half my body weight of course.
Anyway today was our 球技大会 (Kyuugitaikai) which basically means "Ball playing competition". I know that doesn't sound right but it's just like a sports carnival in which students participate in teams and compete in a ball sport.

The 1st year guys and girls play Handball, the 2nd guys play Basketball, the 2nd year girls play Volleyball, the 3rd year guys play Soccer and the 3rd year girls play Basketball. Being a 2nd girl, I had to play Volleyball. The girls in my homeroom (21) were split up into three teams and I was in team 21 (1). We had been training hard for the past 2 months for this competition. I have never played Volleyball in my life before so I had to work extra hard especially since most of the girls have played before in Junior High. However, putting in the effort to train also means that I have achieved one of my goals already. I have finally learnt how to play Volleyball. I can I say that loudly and proudly because well... we won the whole competition. WE WON!!! WE WON!!! And I contributed to it...

When I first found out that the 2nd year girls were playing Volleyball and the 3rd year girls were playing Basketball I was a little disappointed because it would have been so much easier to play Basketball, considering I've been playing it since 7th Grade. But now I'm glad that we had to play Volleyball instead, because I had to force myself to work hard and learn new skills so I wouldn't let the team down. During this time I also fell in love with the game. Volleyball is incredibly fun and you get such a rush when score a point by spiking (like the feeling of making a basket) or when you succeed in blocking a spike (like when you succeed in blocking a shot -_-;;). I guess in a way Volleyball has many similarities to Basketball so I got used to it quickly; being tall is good, there is a lot of jumping and instead of trying to get the ball into the net, you have to make sure it goes over the net. One thing is for sure though, it's so much more relaxing than Basketball! I don't like running very much (Hi, my name is Mel. I am 60% lazy and 40% active, but 100% fun!) but Basketball is such a fast game you tend to forget the pain in your aching body. Okay enough. Time for photos. I am in some of the photos below but I won't tell you which ones because I'm wearing an ugly school sports uniform so it's embarrassing (Hi, my name is Mel. I'm 60% vain and 40% down-to-earth but 100% fun!). These photos were taken by the lovely Amir. Thankyou for sharing them with me^^

The next few photos are of our finals.
