Weekend Madness
Just a quick photo update of my weekend. Yesterday I went out to Karaoke with the ALT's Amir and Louise and the exchange students Valentina, Irene and Nadia. We first stopped by a Portrait Photograph Exhibition by Shoji Ohtake. Although Amir enjoyed the black and white photographs of daily life, I enjoyed Ohtake's portaits of famous Showa women the best. Some of the actresses were simply stunning, but I think I would have appreciated the photographs even more if I knew who they were. Maybe in 50 years time when I'm an old grandma, I can go to some Portrait Photograph Exhibition of famous Heisei women and point out to my grandchildren, "this woman is Koda Kumi, a very famous singer in my time... yes the one with the ripped dress... no I'm pretty sure it's a dress and not a shirt... I know it's scaring you honey but back in those days this style was called erokawaii". (Please refer to Japanese Fashion? I'm Worried). After the exhibition we went to have lunch at a Sushi restaurant. The Sushi was delicious... Sushi in Japan is the best in the world (obviously -_-;;). I'm kicking myself for forgetting to take a photo of the food, probably because I was thinking about eating it instead.
Karaoke was extremely fun as usual. Louise and I did a spectacular duet of Wannabe by the Spice Girls. I think we scared everyone because we both knew the song so well @.@ I have to admit though, I was a big fan of the Spice Girls in those days... but give me some credit, I was in 4th Grade... PRIMARY SCHOOL 4TH GRADE. My favorite was Sporty =)
I love Karaoke. I think I want to become a professional karaokeist... although I don't want to give up my dream on becoming a ninja. God (of Death), the dilemma.
Well that was my Saturday, but guess where I went today?
I went to Fujiyama shi (yes where Mt. Fuji is) with my host family. I went to Mt. Fuji the first time I came to Japan back in 2004, and I also get to see Mt. Fuji every day as I walk to school and out the window of the school library so the mountain does not excite me anymore. So instead of visiting that dormant volcano we went to Shirai no Taki (White Thread Waterfalls). It was beautiful... I was in Narnia.
