Rainbow Bruise

You know I had something to blog about, but now I have completely forgotten what it was. If my memory is failing me at this tender age of 16 years and 36 months then what it be like when I'm 25 years and 660 months old?

One thing I do remember though are the blood vessels which burst on my right arm today.

I showed the
Shakespeare Girls my arm and they made their cute little Japanese startled gasps and asked me what had happened.

I replied, "I'm addicted..." they eyes widened waiting for me to continue.
"... to Volleyball."

Apparently this extremely lame attempt of a junkie joke was actually funny to them. When they finally stopped finding it funny they showed me their arms and no one was as bruised as I was (we had all practiced Volleyball in PE Class for an upcoming tournament with the rest of the 2nd year girls). I told them that I have tender baby soft skin so I bruise easily. This brought about another fit of laughter and variations of "yeah, whatever" in Japanese.

I've always bruised more than anyone else. Not because I have tender baby soft skin... maybe just "baby soft skin" =P When I gently knock into something I end up with a round purple mark. Like this:

When I knock into something a lot harder... well...

FLASHBACK!

Around this time of the year back in 8th Grade my Basketball team were playing in the semi finals. The scores were close and we desperately wanted to win. A player from the opposing team made a shot for the basket. It missed and bounced off the ring. Our centre jumped for the rebound, she caught it and threw it to the left side of the court where I was standing. She threw too hard, and the ball went right above my out reached finger and bounced behind me. It was moving steadily towards the sidelines. I chased after it knowing I had to throw a Sakuragi (Note: Sakuragi is a character from the manga/anime Slam Dunk who saves some crazy balls from going out the sideline) and do whatever I could to prevent it going out (Basketball Note: Since the last person who touched the ball was someone on my team, if the ball goes out the sideline then it automatically goes to the other team). I streched for the ball and pushed it back onto the court. After completing my mission of saving the ball, I was headed straight for the corner of the bench (the table where the scores and fouls are recorded) and couldn't stop in time. I cupped my hands out in front of me so that the top corner of the table wouldn't drive into my face. This action saved my face from any sort of swelling, however the whole side of my left body slammed into the table which such force that the clipboards fell off and papers flew everywhere. Our coach ran over and asked if I was okay. I stood up feeling perfectly fine. Every part of my body was still intact and nothing hurt very much. I continued to play the rest of the game on adrenaline.

We ended up losing.

It wasn't until after the game was over, that I started to feel the pain on my left leg. I had to hobble my way to the car.

When I arrived home after about 50 mins a big bruise the size of an McDonald's hot cake had formed. This 10cm diametered ugliness remained there for two months. During this time it turned from purple to blue to green to pink to yellow and to blue. The different patterns of swirling colors was actually quite fascinating. It was the biggest bruise I had ever had in my whole life but it looked a lot worse than it actually was. Sometimes when I couldn't be bothered going to my math class I would go to the office and say that my leg hurt and show them the bruise. The office ladies would gasp and make a fuss over me. I was then sent to the sick bay to nurse my leg, one of the many ways to get out of class.

But of course this typed up version of the game and all the fall sounds a lot more dramatic than it actually was. In reality it wasn't all that exciting, but you don't want to read about me trying to save a ball from going out the sideline but, being the klutz I am, slam myself against a table resulting in a massive bruise which could recite the rainbow. Hmm...

Ok, I realised I just wrote an entire post about bruises. WTF?!
I think I need sleep, these pills....

... cold medicine pills (ahaha second junkie joke of the day -_-;;) are making me drowsy
